THE SACRED ART OF EATING, WED. JAN. 20 AT 6 PM.
Lisa Ota, RD, MPH, MA, author of the ground-breaking book, The Sacred Art of Eating, will be presenting an extraordinary workshop this coming Wed. Jan. 20 at 6 pm, at the Opera Plaza Community Room, 601 Van Ness, San Francisco.
Here is how she describes it:
"We all have a unique, lifelong relationship with food. But for too many of us, our relationship with food is broken. We are born into amazing human bodies on a planet that serves up a bounty of food, yet our disconnection with our bodies and with the earth has led us into a global food frenzy.
"Serving up a much more expansive view of what it means to eat, THE SACRED ART OF EATING workshop will lead us toward optimal levels of individual, communal, and environmental health, highlighting our relationship with food as a spiritual path that is both exciting and necessary. Presenting food in a way that is new and refreshing, this workshop will catalyze desperately needed conversation and behavior change toward true integrity of body, mind, and spirit."
Lisa Ota is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with degrees in nutrition and spirituality, She is uniquely qualified to help us understand our dynamic relationship with food. Her passion about the unbreakable links between food and spirituality is the result of over twenty years of academic, professional, and personal exploration. In 1987, she graduated from UC Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Clinical Dietetics and received the Nutrition Sciences Departmental Citation Award. In 1990, she earned a Master’s Degree in Public Health Nutrition from UC Berkeley with High Honors. In 1996, she obtained a Master’s Degree in Culture and Creation Spirituality from Holy Names College, and is a Shamanic Soul Coach with certification from the Integrative Arts Institute.

Over the years, she has led over 100 grocery store tours, including one with Dr. Nancy Snyderman for KPIX Channel 5 News. Lisa is a contributing author to two recent books, The Social Cause Diet and Originally Blessed, and has made appearances on KGO TV’s The View from the Bay.
